Where Has Freedom of Speech Gone?

Now there is another controversy raging, that of eliminating free speech in our United States. Google/UTube has decided it knows what is best for our county’s citizens by censoring and banning media outlets from anything that hints of conservatism or includes the word conservative. Yes, this does mean messages from the public as well as articles in newspapers.
Google/UTube is controlling social media using their determination of allowable news. Shades of Hitler’s control of the press and banning everything but his Regime’s version of allowable news. U.S. Citizens we must be careful. Because following that came banned books and then the burning of books. Guess what? We already have, and keep getting more and more, banning of books in school and public libraries.
So what happened to allow Google/UTube the nerve to make such a bold and restrictive move against us?
Our Free Speech, Article I of the Bill of Rights, was badly undermined when the Patriot Act was passed. There was a pork belly addition, the “Food Disparagement Law”, buried in that act stating no one could make critical statements about the food industry. This is shown in the Netflix video, “Cowspiracy” which explains a court case where a man who appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show said something about the mad cow disease, she agreed and both of them were sued. The case took five years and “several hundred thousand dollars” before the court ruled in their favor.
First of all, why were they sued? Under Article I, they had a right to their statements. The Disparagement Law violated Free Speech and was illegal. Why did the courts allow that case to be heard or worse yet drag on for five years? The plaintiff’s case was simply illegal.

People, we are losing our precious Democracy and our great Republic. It has been continuously undermined for decades mainly because we, The People, have sat quietly by and allowed it to happen. I once saw a very sad bumper sticker, “Go ahead, take my Bill of Rights. I’m not using them anyway”. I told everyone I knew about that and thought it should be on the bumper of every car in the U.S.
We have to get those Rights back! What about Snowden’s whistle blowing? He was a citizen who saw a grave injustice being done to all U.S. Citizens. He was supposed to be protected from harassment and retaliation if he whistle blew. Instead he was facing imprisonment when he fled our country. Think this through. He certainly could not remain here. His country had turned on him; made him a criminal. Unfortunately Snowden has become the poster boy of what not to do: Never whistle blow. We sympathize and can identify with him. Because now, in similar circumstances do we whistle blow anonymously such as the anonymous leak of Google’s meeting, see links below.
Or – in order to keep ourselves safe do we keep our mouths shut?
Think about that because Google is telling us we have to keep our mouths shut about everything that hints of conservatism or uses of that word. First of all, that is not a dirty word. It is simply a point of view. An allowable belief. Google is posturing against everything our Country has stood for all these years by being illegal and being Un-American with a capital U.
If they were a private company then yes, they could control what they posted. But, since their stock is publicly owned and traded they are a Public Entity and must abide by all the rules and regulations thereof. Meaning, they should not, and legally cannot, control the news! We must not let them get away with this!
Why aren’t they being prosecuted just like Snowden? Is it because they are making huge donations to Important People?
Perhaps I should say that our Freedom of Speech is not gone – yet. It is just rapidly disappearing.
If we don’t make noise and rattle cages we will lose it completely. Nazi Germany proved that.
