The Universalist Unitarian Church of Santa Paula will present an Annual Winter Solstice Celebration on Saturday, December 21 at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary of the church led by Maddie Sifantus, followed by Wassail in the Parish Hall. Winter Solstice is an ancient planetary-wide celebration of the longest night and the returning of the Light. From ancient times, traditions have mixed amongst religions and cultures. So it is that each year we sing songs and chants of the season and hear readings which bringing Light to the darkest time of the year. The Celebration will feature harpist John Robles, drumming, and the Solstice Singers accompanied by Veronica Dillon. Solstice finery and jollity encouraged.
The church is located at 740 E Main Street in Santa Paula.The Universalist Unitarian Church of Santa Paula has been home to a number of musical events throughout its history. Admission is FREE. A basket will be available after the Celebration for those who wish to participate in a Free Will Offering to help compensate Chucumite. UUCSP is a registered Ventura County Historical Landmark.
