    World Tai Chi Day

Oxnard RSVP will join others around the world in celebrating World Tai Chi Day on April 24, 2021 with a special event featuring a variety of Tai Chi and meditation demonstrations.
The event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and is open for all ages and all levels of experience. It will take place at Oxnard Beach Park, located at 1601 S. Harbor Boulevard.

Oxnard RSVP offers Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance classes for seniors in the four west county cities it serves: Oxnard, Ventura, Camarillo and Pt. Hueneme. This cost-free class teaches balance skills and good body alignment by using coordinated and flowing movements in a simplified eight-form routine.

Certified instructors will be on hand to lead Tai Chi and answer questions about the classes. The event will kick-off with a 10 a.m. Tai Chi session timed to coincide with others held worldwide. Demonstrations will also take place at 10:20 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

World Tai Chi Day, also referred to as World Healing Day, was first held in 1998 by Bill and Angela Wong Douglas and always falls on the last Saturday of April. Not only does the event aim to raise awareness about the benefits of Tai Chi, it also focuses on bringing people together and giving thanks to the Chinese culture.

Originating from ancient China, Tai Chi is an effective mind and body exercise that promotes a person’s overall health and wellness. Benefits include increased energy, mobility, strength, and balance. Tai Chi can and has been modified to be practiced by all ages.
