Overall, reported crime is up 11%, which can be attributed to an increase in Property Crimes
by an additional 50 reported incidents as compared to last year.
The city saw an 8.1% decrease in Violent Crimes with a decrease in Homicides from 2 in 2021
to 0 in 2022 and a decrease in Aggravated Assaults from 44 to 38.
Property Crime in the city increased by 14.5%, with increases of 50% in Motor Vehicle Theft
and a 12.5% increase in Larceny (theft). The only Property Crime category that saw a
decrease was Burglary, which had 7.9% decrease.
Unlocked vehicles and shoplifting were the driving force behind the increase in Property
Crimes.
While reported crime in Port Hueneme continues to remain low, quality of life issues once
again comprised a majority of our calls for service last year. The Port Hueneme Police
Department is committed to focusing our efforts and resources on not only keeping crime rates
down, but continuing to seek long-term, sustainable solutions to meet the needs of our
community.
