The Ventura County Office of Education is pleased to announce the final four high school teams who will advance to Thursday night’s championship round of the 2023 Ventura County Mock Trial. The finalists received the highest scores of the eight teams who participated in yesterday’s semifinal round. The final four teams who will compete tonight at Ventura County Superior Court are:
- La Reina High School
- Oak Park High School, Black Team
- Trinity Pacific High School, Silver Team
- Westlake High School
Six middle school teams will also compete in their final round tonight. This is the first time ever that middle schools have had the opportunity to compete in the Ventura County Mock Trial. All six middle schools who competed in their initial round last night advance to tonight’s finals. They are:
- Isbell Middle School
- Las Colinas Middle School
- Mesa Union School, Blue Team
- Mesa Union School, Orange Team
- Monte Vista Middle School
- Trinity Pacific Christian School
Awards Ceremony
The Mock Trial awards ceremony will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 5:00 PM at the Ventura County Office of Education at 5100 Adolfo Rd., Camarillo, CA 93012. Media coverage is welcomed.
More about the 2023 Ventura County Mock Trial
The Mock Trial competition is coordinated annually by the Ventura County Office of Education. This year’s fictitious case is People v. Franks, which is about an altercation between two actors who are performing on a cruise ship.
High schools participating this year are:

- Fillmore High School

- La Reina High School

- Santa Paula High School

- Ventura High School
- Westlake High School

The winning high school team will go on to the state Mock Trial contest which takes place in Los Angeles in March. Ventura County has taken first place at the state level in 2021, 2013, 2012, 2011, and 2008.
