Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release
On April 1st, at 10:35 AM, a sergeant with the Ventura Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was related to an ongoing threats call. Shortly after the traffic stop was conducted, the driver of the vehicle, a 37-year-old male adult, got into a physical altercation with the sergeant and an officer involved shooting occurred.
The sergeant was transported to Ventura County Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and the suspect with critical injuries.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department was called and is handling the investigation. Any press inquiries are being referred to the Sheriff’s Department PIO. This is an active investigation. No further details will be released at this point by the Ventura Police Department.
