    Suspect flees after Stabbing in Ventura River Bottom

    On July 30th at 11:03 PM, patrol officers responded to a report of a stabbing victim in the Santa Clara river bottom. Officers arrived on scene and met with the reporting party who led officers into the river bottom area where the victim was. The victim was located and was suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds to his torso. The victim told officers he was walking in the river bottom area when he heard a male voice come from behind him. The victim was then struck in the head and then in his torso. The victim fell to the ground and realized he had been stabbed. The suspect fled in an unknown direction.

    The victim was unable to walk and was not found for approximately 10-15 min. The victim was located by the reporting party who then contacted emergency services. Responding officers conducted a thorough search of the area; however the suspect was not found.

    This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the Ventura Police Department at 805-650-8010.
