Oxnard | Suspects fleeing police crash vehicle into parked car

Oxnard Police Department – Incident Press Release

On January 28, at approximately 1:25 p.m., officers from the Special Enforcement Unit (gang unit) attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation at Kentia and Indigo.  The driver failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.  The pursuit went south on Lantana and then west on Bluebell where the pursuit concluded.   All four of the occupants fled and the driver failed to put the vehicle in park, allowing the vehicle to collide with a parked, unoccupied vehicle.  All of the occupants were apprehended after brief foot pursuits.  A records check on the vehicle, a black Nissan Rogue, revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen from The City of Oxnard.

The driver, Steve Perez, was charged with felony evading, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, misdemeanor hit and run, and resisting arrest.  Passengers Brayer Aceveda and Lorenzo Garcia were both arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and delaying / obstructing a peace officer.  Perez, Aceveda, and Garcia are all documented Oxnard criminal street gang members.  A 16-year-old female passenger was cited for violating her probation.
