Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
On May 7, 2020, a Thousand Oaks resident was arrested for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
At approximately 7:00 pm., a deputy with the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as (S) Brandon Lamont. During the contact, the deputy determined Lamont was under the influence of a controlled substance and he was arrested for the violation.
During an ensuing search of Lamont’s vehicle incident to arrest, the deputy located a firearm with two loaded magazines, approximately half an ounce of methamphetamine and narcotics paraphernalia. The deputy determined Lamont was prohibited from owning or possessing firearms. Lamont was arrested for Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person — 29800(a)(1) PC and misdemeanor narcotics related charges.
Lamont was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for the violations. Lamont was released from custody after posting bail and is scheduled to go to court on July 8, 2020.
