Ventura, CA – The County of Ventura has released the final Supervisorial District Map available for review at www.ventura.org/redistricting/. The street level view of the map can be viewed here.
“I do want to see that we ensure fair and equal districts. Both in population but also, what I think is very remarkable, that we are able to shape it in a way that does create two districts now that will have a majority of a Latinx population. I am proud of our Board for stepping up and deciding that was something we were going to do. We took a vote on that, and we are living up to that with the proposal that we have before us. It will be the first time in our County history that we have been able to do this and I think this bodes well for the future. I think that is appropriate because you want the people sitting on the dais reflecting you. I am glad it is something our Board has moved forward on,” said Chair of the Board Supervisor Linda Parks.
The final map establishes districts that are relatively equal in population and the map also includes majority minority districts, to be consistent with the Voters Right Act and Fair Maps Act, legislation guiding all County redistricting processes. A majority minority district is a district in which a racial minority group or groups comprise a majority of the district’s total population old enough to vote.
The map will be presented for adoption at the next redistricting public hearing at the Board of Supervisors’ meeting on December 7 at 6:00 pm. Information about participating in the public hearings can be accessed at https://www.ventura.org/bosmeetings.

La Junta de Supervisores aprueba 2 distritos latinos mayoritarios en el mapa final de redistribución de distritos Mapa que se adoptará en la audiencia pública del 7 de diciembre
Ventura, CA – El Condado de Ventura ha publicado el Mapa final de Supervisión de Distritos el cual se encuentra disponible para su revisión en www.ventura.org/redistricting/. La vista a nivel de calle del mapa se puede ver aquí.
“Quiero ver que aseguremos distritos justos y equitativos. Tanto en población como también, lo que creo que es muy notable, que seamos capaces de darle forma de tal manera que así se crean dos distritos que tendrán una población mayoritariamente latina. “Estoy orgullosa de nuestra Junta por intensificar los esfuerzos y decidir crear dos distritos que tendrán una población mayoritariamente latina. Votamos sobre eso y estamos a la altura de la propuesta que tenemos ante nosotros. Será la primera vez en la historia de nuestro Condado que hayamos podido hacer esto, y creo que esto es una buena señal para el futuro. Creo que es lo apropiado porque lo que ustedes desean es que las personas que presiden el estrado sean un reflejo de ustedes mismos. Me alegro de que sea algo en lo que nuestra Junta haya logrado avanzar” dijo la presidenta de la Junta, Linda Parks.
El mapa final establece distritos que son relativamente iguales en población y el mapa también incluye distritos de minoría mayoritaria, para ser congruente con la Ley de Derechos de los Votantes y la Ley de Mapas Justos, legislación que rige todos los procesos de redistribución de distritos del Condado. Un distrito de mayoría-minoría es un distrito en el que un grupo o grupos minoritarios raciales comprenden la mayoría de la población total del distrito con la edad suficiente para votar.
El mapa será presentado para su adopción en la próxima audiencia pública de redistribución de distritos en la reunión de la Junta de Supervisores el 7 de diciembre a las 6:00 pm.
