Setting Brushfires of Freedom by Don Jans

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley Join with Staff at Farmers Insurance to Make over Grossman Boys & Girls Club Calabasas,

Calabasas, CA – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley (BGCGCV) welcomed volunteers from Farmers Insurance® to participate in a club beautification project at the Dr. Richard Grossman Club in Calabasas.

The project, including a supporting grant from Farmers Insurance, allowed for team-building opportunities for the volunteers and made a significant impact at the start of the school year for the Grossman Club.  The project involved getting the Club ready to receive students for the new school year.

“Club beautification is an essential element of BGCGCV’s ability to provide the highest quality youth development services,” stated Dr. Crystal Nāone, President/CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley.  “We are so grateful to the team who had just two days between summer and the school year to make sure the Club was ready, so all hands were on deck,” she added.

Studies have shown that a well-maintained and safe physical environment that is clean and comfortable for students helps foster their ability to learn, academically achieve, and exhibit appropriate behavior. A well-maintained facility has also been linked to higher youth development professional morale and classroom effectiveness, and lower turnover rates of staff who serve as important role models and mentors.

Farmers Insurance is a strong supporter of the BGCGCV through membership on the BGCGCV Board of Governors, regular employee volunteering, and as a sponsor at the 2019 Stand up for Kids Gala Dinner & Auction which took place on September 14.
