California State Senate reverses direction on transgender children’s bill – To Fund for experimental gender-transition

    By Michael Hernandez

SACRAMENTO—A California Senate committee voted this week, 7-1, to approve a bill that creates a fund for experimental gender-transition procedures which includes cross-sex hormones and body-altering surgeries for both minors and legal adults. The legislative action was done despite the Senate health committee chair killing the bill last month and vowing not to pass the measure that allows for breast and genital amputation for minors.

The bill, AB 2218 (also called the Transgender Wellness and Equity Fund) was authored by California Assemblyman Miguel Santiago (D-53) of Los Angeles serving Downtown and East LA (who also asked Governor Gavin on April 13 to halt the sales of all guns and ammunition during the COVID-19 crisis). However, Assemblyman Santiago and other Democrat legislators deny that the bill contains anything about “sterilizing children” which he called “fear-mongering.”

The Christian Post reported “opponents of the measure have been pointing out that one of the side effects of the combination of puberty-block drugs and cross-sex hormones is permanent infertility.” Jonathan Keller, president of the California Family Council, said “these senators are ignorant of how California gender clinics are already sterilizing children and young adults.

“Gender clinics claim to treat gender dysphoria in pre-pubescent children with puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. You don’t need to be a doctor to know that a child who doesn’t experience puberty will likely be sterile for life.

“Endocrinologists opposed to the practice have long pointed out that the majority of children who go on puberty blockers continue down the prescribed pathway with cross-sex hormones and then surgeries in order to appear more as the opposite sex.”  Journalist Abigail Shrier has written a just released book (June 30, 2020) Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters available on Amazon Books.

AB 2218 initially asked for $15 million to start the fund. Dr. Richard Pan, chairs the Senate Health Committee that sent the bill to the California Senate floor which passed the California State Assembly with little debate. The bill is coauthored by State Assembly members Wendy Carrillo (D-51) of northeastern Los Angeles and East Los Angeles and by Lorena Gonzalez (D-80) southern San Diego and by California State Senator Scott Weiner (D-11) representing San Francisco.
