California, Which Entered U.S. as Free State in 1850, to Study ‘Reparations’ for Slavery

    By JOEL B. POLLAK

The State of California will study reparations to black Americans, thanks to a bill signed into law Wednesday by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

AB 3121 will create a nine-member “Task Force to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African Americans, with a Special Consideration for African Americans Who are Descendants of Persons Enslaved in the United States,” according to the text of the bill.

California was admitted to the Union in 1850 as a free state and has no history of legal slavery.

As the state Department of Parks and Recreation notes on its website (original emphasis):

In 1849, Californians sought statehood and, after heated debate in the U.S. Congress arising out of the slavery issue, California entered the Union as a free, nonslavery state by the Compromise of 1850.

California became the 31st state on September 9, 1850.
The Golden State’s rich history has since been shaped by people of every ethnic background who traveled here seeking economic, social and educational opportunity, and a life of quality and breathtaking beauty.

Phillip your missing the point if you read and understood what I wrote persecution of blacks still was very openly public up until the 1960s. Put your self in a black child’s shoes where you were not allowed to enter a white school or bathroom. This means you are a second rate citizen. I can assure you this will affect how you feel about yoursellf and the quality of your education. And this effect will be multigenerational. This is pure science and can’t be argued. Try for a minute and imagine. I personally would not want to be treated that way. Or be pulled over and harassed for the color of your skin. I have an African American friend who is a fine citizen and has been pulled over nearly 20 times and had not performed a single traffic infraction.

    Just to fact check Werner:

    – America ended the Trans-Atlantic slave trade in 1808.

    – The Proud Boys are led by a non-white and non-whites make up a significant portion of both its members and leadership. This would imply that they are not a white supremacist organization.

I am also white and have mixed children with my non-white wife. We’ve literally never experienced any issues about race except once when
someone wearing a BLM shirt screamed in our toddler daughter’s face for being a “white supremacist piece of sh@#t” (apparently anything not dark brown is white now and walking on the sidewalk must be white nationalism because there is a picture somewhere of Hitler walking on a sidewalk). Despite that we don’t live in fear due to unfounded paranoid delusions and happily travel about California and the country.

We need Newsom out of office.
    What about Native Americans
Whom had it much worse, how about retribution to them does everybody forget about the murders and massacres of the Native American people. This is there land don’t forget about how this country was built off the murder and massacres of the Native American people, now all the sudden we’re civilized.

First off this article appears to be inconsistent with what I have read on California. But let’s set that aside. Slavery was made illegal sometime around 1865. But illegal slavery continued long after. Keep in mind segregation of African Americans from bathrooms schools and buses until the 1960s. And to this day the proud boys, kkk and other groups and race terror groups are on the rise. Being a parent of a mixed race child and a non white spouse I keep aware of what part of California and the country I travel with them. God only knows what an extreme member of one of these groups might do to my family. To me if you segregate you disenfranchise, which the effects are multigenerational. Especially when it comes to education.

If your family never owned slaves, how are you liable?
Also there are many blacks that have always been free, do we give them money?
Another bad idea, driven by white guilt..

Apparently some of Newsolini’s friends and family need jobs.

This whole concept of reparations is ludicrous. The persons held as slaves, and those who owned them, a long dead and buried. The past is gone. Get over it.
