Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
During the months of April through June 2020, detectives with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Special Crimes Unit concluded an investigation into illegal firearm activity and drug trafficking involving a resident of Ventura. At the conclusion of the investigation, a felony warrant was issued for (S) 38 year old Ventura resident, Frank Rivera, a documented criminal street gang member.
During the month of September 2020, the Sheriff’s Special Crimes Unit worked in collaboration with Camarillo Police Department to gain intelligence on Rivera’s whereabouts.
On 09/10/2020, at about 7:00 AM, detectives with the Sheriff’s Special Crimes Unit contacted Rivera in the 4000 block of Central Avenue in Camarillo and arrested him for the warrant. During the arrest, Rivera was found to have a concealed loaded firearm on his person. In addition, over a half of a pound of a controlled substance and a large sum of cash was located in Rivera’s possession. The cash was believed to be proceeds from illegal narcotics sales.
Frank Rivera is a convicted felon and therefore prohibited from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition. He was arrested for several felony weapon and drug offenses. He was booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for the warrant and fresh offenses. Rivera remains in custody on $620,000.00 bail and is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on 09/14/2020.
