Cancellation of four writers’ events by Small Publishers, Artists & Writers Network

The Small Publishers, Artists & Writers Network(SPAWN) announced today that it is canceling or postponing its participation in four events, three in Ventura County and the LA Times Festival of Books. The Ventura County events are the Writing Critique Groups organizing meeting planned for March 23, and the next two IWOSC/SPAWN meetings at Goebel Center.

“Our audience tends to be a bit older,” said Kathleen Kaiser, President of SPAWN, “and I felt that we needed to exercise extreme caution. This was compounded today by my doctor, suggesting I stay clear of groups or crowds because of my chronic cough condition.”

Plans are underway to reschedule the Critique Group meeting into May. The next IWOSC/SPAWN will be June 1 at Goebel Center in Thousand Oaks. The LA Times has rescheduled the Festival of Books to the first weekend in October at USC.

“I know several people were looking forward to the critique meeting. If anyone had been spreading the word about the meeting, please let friends know that it will be rescheduled. When we have a date set, I will send out email blasts. Anyone wishing to be on the email list, please sign up at http://www.iwoscspawnvc.com.”

IWOSC/SPAWN Writers’ Meeting is a joint gathering for writers, authors and book lovers presented by the Independent Writers of Southern Californa (IWOSC) and the Small Publishers, Artists & Writers Network (SPAWN) a national literary nonprofit based in Ojai, CA.
