Celleste Releases Single & Video For “We Go On (California Strong)” Dedicated To Those Affected By The California Fires

AN INSPIRATIONAL AND ANTHEMIC SONG & VIDEO DEDICATED TO THE STRENGTH, HOPE AND REBUILDING EFFORTS OF THOSE AFFECTED BY THE CALIFORNIA FIRES

PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT THE “WeGoOn” FUND SUPPORTING HABITAT FOR HUMANITY’S  REBUILDING EFFORTS ACROSS CALIFORNIA

Mighty Music recording artist Celleste  released both the single and video for “We Go On (California Strong)” dedicated to the survivors and heroes of the recent California fires and those who lost their lives. Since January 2017, California has battled over 17,000 wildfires: More than 3.5 million acres of land have burned, over 33,000 homes and structures were destroyed, and 172 people died. The music and video for “We Go On (California Strong)” were conceived and created by singer, songwriter and film maker Celleste along with her partner, co-writer and music producer Eric Dick with a single goal in mind: to raise money to benefit rebuilding efforts across California.

The story behind the project started in January, 2018 when Celleste and Eric followed their hearts and moved from Montreal to Malibu, where they were magnetically drawn by what they describe as “the amazing people, and the magical, creative energy in the air.”  While the two were in the middle of writing and recording Celleste’s new album, their lives were impacted by the Woolsey fires. With their home in the direct path of the fire, they were forced to evacuate. Feeling helpless and wanting to give back to their newfound community, an idea for a song and accompanying video was born.

The next two months would find the pair living in temporary quarters and gathering photos and footage from across California, including  photos taken by Celleste herself, and speaking with everyone featured in the video about their personal stories.

“We feel blessed to have met so many beautiful and courageous people who have done nothing but shine in the face of adversity” said Celleste. “Witnessing the strength and resiliency of this community first-hand has been truly inspirational.”

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Celleste began her professional career performing in arenas across Europe as a back-up singer/dancer with Sony Canada recording artist Garou, who was managed at the time by Celine Dion’s husband, Rene Angelil. Later, she became the face of a Canadian make-up company and acted in numerous TV commercials, gaining significant exposure from a national Canadian spot for ‘Yoplait Yogurt,” before meeting her partner and collaborator Eric Dick.  Together they formed their own record label “Mighty Music.”

Celleste’s first album Ready To Fly was released in 2010 and followed by two others,  Join The Infestation and Deconstructing The Infestation/Celleste Unplugged. Garnering great attention, Join The Infestation was featured on iTunes U.S. as “New and Noteworthy” and iTunes Canada as “Fabulous New Indies.” Her follow up single “Sink or Swim” garnered 200K streams in the first week of release on Spotify. During this time Celleste was invited to perform at MusExpo in Los Angeles, finally bringing her face to face with her childhood dream of living in California, a dream that would unexpectedly bring them to create “We Go On (California Strong.)”

Both the single and music video for “We Go On (California Strong)” will be released on June 21, 2019 with proceeds being donated to the “WeGoOn” fund through Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles.  All proceeds donated to the fund will benefit Habitat for Humanity’s work across California, with the specific goal of rebuilding lives, and communities lost or severely damaged by wildfires and natural disasters.
