VENTURA, California – District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Andres Morales (DOB 12/21/94), of Oxnard, has been charged with the death of a bicyclist in Oxnard. The complaint charges Morales with felony gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
On February 13, 2022, Oxnard Police Department officers arrested Morales after he struck and killed the bicyclist who was riding on Wooley Road. Morales’ blood-alcohol concentration was found to be above the legal limit.
On February 15, 2022, Morales appeared for arraignment in the Ventura County Superior Court. A bail review hearing is scheduled for February 17, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 13, followed by an early disposition conference on February 25, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 12, and a preliminary examination on March 1, 2022, at 8:15 a.m. in courtroom 14. Morales is currently in custody with bail set at $50,000.
