Register to volunteer in the 2024 Homeless Point-in-Time Count
The Ventura County Continuum of Care is looking for volunteers to assist with the 2024 Homeless Point-in-Time Count on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
A training session will be offered and will cover the use of the online survey, how to approach individuals safely and compassionately, locations for surveying, and day of shifts. Volunteer Training is mandatory, in order to be assigned a shift. If you cannot make the training session, please contact Cynthia McCullough, Senior Management Analyst, at (805) 583-6759 to make alternate arrangements.
The count is an interactive event that will consist of engaging community members in a conversation to complete survey questions. Volunteers will work in teams and go out in shifts from the early morning through the afternoon, to places where homeless persons are known to gather. Most volunteers are in the field for a couple of hours at a time.
Criteria for volunteers:
18 years or older
Ability to walk around the community
Have a cell phone to use for the survey
Be comfortable approaching community members whose housing status is unknown
