Calleguas Creek Channel and Bank Improvements project commemorated with ribbon cutting ceremony

    0

Camarillo Mayor Kevin Kildee will join Ventura County Supervisor Kathy Long, Ventura County Public Works Agency Director Jeff Pratt and the Ventura County Watershed Protection District for a Ribbon Cutting celebration in honor of the completion of the Calleguas Creek Channel and Bank Improvements project on Friday, April 25.

To better protect adjacent properties on both sides of Calleguas Creek between Pleasant Valley Road and Highway 101 in the event of a 100-year flood event, a narrow section of the creek was widened by 90 feet, along with additional bank improvements to increase flow capacity. The improvements benefit more than 900 homes and business in the City of Camarillo by removing them from a special flood hazard zone. The project also preserved native vegetation on approximately half of the west bank.
