Front Parking Lots at 1600 Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks
Ascension’s Fair Trade Ministry will be hosting a Fair Trade Gift Fair, Sunday, October 9, from 10 AM to 1 PM. Fair Trade items from around the world — clothing and accessories, household items, crafts, gourmet delectables and more – will be available for purchase.
It’s a perfect occasion to get off to a great start for Christmas shopping, for beautiful and tasty items while making the world a better place through fair trade. Our bywords:
Fair Trade – Handmade – Ethical – Sustainable
This is the second Fair Trade Fair to be held at Ascension this year; the fair held this past Spring succeeded beyond our hopes. This second fair will be at a larger location on the Ascension grounds, in the parking lots facing Hillcrest Drive. Fair Trade LA and other vendors will be participating with wearables & shareables. Ascension Fair Trade Ministry will be participating with Fair Trade tasty treats — coffee, tea, snacks, chocolates and cheese.
Since the Gift Fair is on a Sunday, the ministry would like to invite attendees to come and join in worship at Ascension. Sunday services are at 9 AM (traditional) and 11 AM (with our Praise Alive band).
Ascension has been ranked the top customer among 1381 Lutheran/Women of the ELCA Congregations for 2021 by the Equal Exchange Interfaith Program and 9th among 7,000+ congregations overall in the Equal Exchange interfaith group. The church’s highly active Fair Trade Ministry is celebrating its 20th year this year. Sales of Fair Trade consumables take place throughout the year, with special events featuring “wearables & shareables,” too. Through this ministry, Ascension fosters trade partnerships promoting human, economic and environmental justice.
