(Ventura, California) Ever walk into a room and immediately forget why you went in? You’re not alone. Everyone experiences the occasional moment where their memory decides to take an unexpected vacation. But there’s a point where memory issues extend beyond average forgetfulness, indicating a cause for more serious concern. It’s important to know how to recognize the signs.

Community Memorial Health System is hosting a free public seminar on Wednesday, November 20, called, “Is it Forgetfulness or Dementia? Understanding Memory Loss.” The seminar will explore the difference between regular forgetfulness and memory loss related to underlying health conditions. The event will include a talk by Dr. Mostafa Hammoudi, a neurologist, and a panel discussion including representatives from the Alzheimer’s Association and the Camarillo Health Care District.

The free seminar, which is part of CMHS’s 2019 Ethics in Healthcare series, begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Museum of Ventura County, 100 E. Main Street in Ventura. Guests are welcome to come at 4:30 p.m. to browse the exhibit tables first that will provide information about memory loss. For reservations, visit www.cmhshealth.org/rsvp or call Brown Paper Tickets at 800-838-3006.

Community Memorial Health System is a not-for-profit health system, which is comprised of Community Memorial Hospital, Ojai Valley Community Hospital, the Centers for Family Health, and various outpatient centers serving communities located within Ventura County, California.
