    How to License your Intellectual Property (Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks and T)

     

    Patents and licensing have recently become an integral part of most businesses. Businesses relating to technology, software, design, franchising, commercial products, music and a myriad of other companies depend on patents, copyrights and trademarks for their existence. Having the ability to monetize these intellectual assets is now a critical part of the business landscape. Understanding licenses and licensing is a skill that will benefit every business professional decisions.


    This Webinar will explore the fundamentals of how to license intellectual properties either to or from other companies. It will provide you an understanding of the terminology, the available resources, costs, timing and rules of thumb necessary for optimizing the value of your IP. Technical, legal, financial and practical issues will be explored from a business perspective.

    Presented by: Dr. Ted Izen

    Dr. Ted Izen has had executive and general management experience in a number of different high technology industries. He has retired from full time employment, but continues to serve as a consultant to a number of Fortune 500 and many smaller companies in matters relating to licensing, intellectual property management, and strategic planning. He most recently served as the President of the licensing division of Rockwell International. Before this he was the Vice President of Business Development for a $1B division of Lockheed Martin Corporation. Prior to this Dr. Izen was the Executive VP of Teledyne Systems Company, and the Vice President of Corporate Planning and Development for Loral Electro-Optical Systems Company.

    He has extensive experience in international business development and strategic partnering. Ted has assisted many individuals and small companies in developing an integrated business plan and in matters related to acquiring, licensing or monetizing their intellectual property. Dr. Izen received an undergraduate degree in Physics and Math from the University of British Columbia, and a masters and doctorate degree in Physics from the University of Oregon.
