    0

Thousand Oaks—First Church of Christ Scientist, Thousand Oaks, will sponsor a free talk titled “Practicing Christian Healing Today” on Sunday, June 9 at 2 p.m. at the Oak Park Community Center, 1000 Kanan Road, Oak Park.

Mary Alice Rose, a practitioner of Christian Science healing and an international speaker, will discuss how everyone can apply the Holy Bible’s teachings of love to the daily demands of the 21st century.

“At the heart of healing is love—having the true vision of our neighbor which flows from God, Love itself,” Rose said. “In this lecture, I’ll share how this love impels us to go beyond our preconceived notions and discover more of each individual’s God-derived nature in order to help others. My hope is that you’ll be able to walk away from this lecture with the essence of true Christianity in your own heart: love that reforms, transforms and heals.”

Rose spent 20 years working in various areas of applied physical science, including as a meteorologist, an engineer and as a manager who developed the ground system for the Hubble Space Telescope. She is now a Christian Science practitioner, teacher and a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

Christian Science is the Christian religion founded 150 years ago by Mary Baker Eddy, and the foundation of the Pulitzer-prize winning publication, The Christian Science Monitor. Eddy founded The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Mass. in 1879.
