I wonder if this shelter will help people like me who don’t do drugs Or drink. I use to work and I no longer work and am disabled from working . I can not afford rent because it is more than my fixed income allows for rent. So as a single woman with out a drug problem or has children I am not able to get help. For years this town helps women who have drug problems they homes for them and if they have children they have help for women with children, but if you are single women homeless you have no help. I hope this new ARCH program will help people like me who need help. The homeless count is around 2400 homeless people in Ventura. So out all the homeless you see maybe 100 are on the streets who are drug addicted or mentally ill that means 2300 homeless people need help are probably not drug addicted or mentally ill and have no help.
I wonder if homeless folk who are under the influence of some perception altering substance are going to be allowed in and if such usage will be allowed within the confines of the shelter?
If so, maintaining staff will be a problem and a police officer/officers will need to be maintained on premises.

You might try the Lighthouse. Also, try calling Oxnard Housing Authority and speaking to Emilio Ramirez.
