The Ventura Police Community Foundation invites the community to an end of Summer Meet & Greet at Grapes and Hops in Downtown Ventura on August 31 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $20 and $25 at the door for beverages and appetizers. The casual night out offers an opportunity for community members and police foundation supporters to learn about the efforts of the foundation and discuss ways to work together while enjoying good food and company.

The Ventura Police Community Foundation was established to provide the opportunity for community and business members to support programs and initiatives that will improve the quality of life and safety in Ventura. The Police Activities League (PAL) was founded back in 1997 with a primary goal to provide at-risk youth with meaningful recreation, educational, and cultural programs designed to keep youth away from the influence of gangs, drugs, violence and delinquent behaviors. Today, PAL now operating as the Ventura Police Community Foundation, plays an important role in Ventura’s Program Enrichment for After-school Kids (PEAK). The PEAK program is a partnership between the Ventura Police Community Foundation, Ventura’s Parks, Recreation and Community Partnership Department and the Ventura Unified School District. The program proudly serves over 500 youth each day in a safe and supportive environment.

The Ventura Police Community Foundation also works to raise funds to assist the Ventura Police Department in obtaining equipment and technology not otherwise funded by the City, which helps to improve the department’s crime fighting capabilities and keeps officers and community members safe from harm. In May, the foundation kicked off the “We’ve Got Your Back” vest campaign with a goal of equipping Ventura Police Officers with specialized ballistic vests to be used during high risk incidents. There was an overwhelming amount of support from the community for this effort. Over 60 vests have been funded by sponsorships from the community.

The end of Summer Meet & Greet is an opportunity for community members to learn about the Ventura Police Community Foundation and show support for public safety programs and initiatives in our community.
