    FIRST® Robotics Brings Local, International Students Together to Compete in High-Level STEM Competition

    High School Students Compete To Qualify for First International Robotics Championship

    WHERE: Port of Hueneme Administrative Offices, 333 Ponoma Street, Port Hueneme, CA 93041
    Members of the press should arrive at Port administrative offices at 8:45 a.m. for escort to ceremony site and to FIRST® Robotics Competition located at FATHOMWERX (on Port).

    IMPORTANT NOTES: For entry into the robotics event, please wear a mask (per event requirements) and wear closed-toe shoes. Port will provide additional safety equipment as necessary. Because of this year’s Covid restrictions, this event is not open to the general public.

    PARKING: PLEASE PRESENT PARKING PASS (printed or on phone) to Port staff at the front of 333 Ponoma Street for parking. Vehicles will be directed to overflow parking if necessary.

    WHAT: 

    • The FIRST® Robotics Competition combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. High school students from Ventura County, California, Hawaii, Wyoming, Colorado, Mexico, Brazil, Lesotho, Columbia, and Singapore are showcasing their hard work after designing and building an original robot for the “Cargo Connect” Competition happening on-site at the Port.
    • A resolution from the Port will be presented to FIRST® Robotics organizers.
    • A check will be presented to FIRST® Robotics representatives from Port Commissioners and City of Port Hueneme officials as part of the joint Port-City Community Benefit Fund CBF.)
    • After the ceremony, event attendees will be able to view the students in action at the FIRST® Robotics Competition.
