    Hillcrest Center for the Arts Presents Live Stand-up Drive-In Comedy

    THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Live Standup Comedy on the Hill returns Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the regular time of 8:00 pm.  This month the series very own Drive-In Edition will be held LIVE in the parking lot of Conejo Creek South at 1300 E Janss Rd in Thousand Oaks, California.  Audience members can enjoy this setting with sound from their car’s FM Radio, or they can stay at home and attend via Zoom or YouTube Live.  September’s lineup includes Dan Gabriel, Matt Kirshen and Brian Kiley.  Professional local comedian Jason Love hosts and produces this monthly show in collaboration with the Hillcrest Center for the Arts.  The show features a new lineup each month with some of America’s funniest headliners.   There will be stage set up in front of the screen for the Comics and the first few rows will be have microphones installed so the comics can hear the laughter.  There will be stage set up in front of the screen for the Comics and the first few rows will have microphones installed so the comics can hear the laughter.  Those who choose to watch from their homes may laugh or chat with fellow audience members or via YouTube Live.

    Dan Gabriel grew up immersed in the world famous San Francisco comedy scene where his mom took him to comedy shows when he was in grade school.  In college, he stepped up on stage for the first time and after graduation began opening for his heroes like Dave Chappelle, Mitch Hedberg and George Lopez.  Since then Dan has worked his way from opening act to nationally touring headliner.  Now considered a veteran jokesmith,  Dan has appeared on CBS’s Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Showtime, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, and CBS’s Star Search.  He was an award winning writer for Thugs on Film on BBC America and the Winner of the L.A. Take Out Comedy Competition. Today you can hear his podcast, “The Best Medicine” on iTunes as well as his two critically acclaimed comedy albums, “Giant Robot” and “Baby For Sale.”  

    London born Matt Kirshen’s precision wit has earned him an impressive reputation on the international comedy circuit. Starting his comedy career in the UK, he first became known to American audiences as a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. He has also appeared on Comedy Central’s @Midnight, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Paul Provenza’s Green Room on Showtime, and The Nerdist, and is one of the regular guest co-hosts of StarTalk with Neil deGrasse Tyson.  He is currently a writer for The Jim Jefferies Show on Comedy Central, for which he was nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award, and also wrote for, and appeared on How To Build… Everything on the Science channel, and Comedy KnockOut on TruTV.

    Brian Kiley has appeared seven times on “The Late Show with David Letterman”, four times on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and twelve times on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”.  He performs regularly at clubs in L.A. He has been a staff writer for Conan O’Brien since 1994 and is currently the head monologue writer.  He has been nominated for 16 Emmy Awards and he is the winner of the 2007 Emmy Award for Writing in a Comedy/Variety Series. He has had a recurring role on the Cartoon Network’s “Delocated” and has been on  “The Bonnie Hunt Show”, “Comedy Central Presents”, “Dr. Katz Professional Therapist”, “The CBS Morning Show”, “Spotlight Café”, “Caroline’s Comedy Hour”, “Comedy On The Road”, the Showtime Comedy Club network, the TBS Conan writer’s special and “An Evening at the Improv”.

    Producer and host Jason Love has appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, America’s Got Talent, and over 20 national broadcasts.   He has performed overseas for the troops and on the seas for cruise lines, and was a finalist at the Cabo Comedy Festival.  Jason’s non-profit, Love & Laughter, brings free shows to cancer support communities and others in need. Currently Jason presents a free daily FaceBook Live show at 5:00pm.

    Tickets are only available online.  Drive in tickets are for a designated parking space that is at least 6 ft. from all other vehicles.  Over-sided vehicles such are RV’s are not permitted. All patrons must remain inside their vehicles during the event. The radio station setting for FM Radio will be provided at the event. Restrooms are available.  Patrons exiting their vehicle to use the restroom must wear a mask at all times when outside their vehicle.   No more than 2 people per vehicle at a time may leave to use the restrooms.   Patrons must maintain 6 ft. of social distancing when traveling to and waiting for the restrooms.  Restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized during the event.  There will be no concession sales but guests may bring their own snacks.

    Standup Drive-in Comedy Tickets at the Drive-in are $25 per car.  Viewing price for the show via Zoom and YouTube are $15.00.  After payment, audience members will receive both a Zoom link and a YouTube Live link via email. Those who participate via the Zoom link will have their microphone open so as to provide some love and laughter for the comedians. Log in early at 7:55 pm for a pre-show chat with Jason Love.
