PG&E pleads guilty to 84 counts of involuntary manslaughter… (LA Times, March 23, 2020)
PG&E plead guilty because it acknowledged failing to properly maintain… equipment. Should the Sierra Club also be held guilty of Involuntary Manslaughter? Per NPR (National Public Radio) At Least 14 People Killed In West Coast Wildfires! The Sierra Club says: “…the natural vegetative composition and structure shall be maintained and restored, and commercial logging will not occur”, and “land managers shall select the method of operation that causes the least short-term change to soil productivity and the least amount of short-term environmental pollution.”
Have the good intentions of the Sierra Club been diverted to support goals of maintaining forest areas for the privileged few who might embark on long wilderness hikes and those whose philosophy can be charitably described as Neo-Luddite?
And, if the failings of Forest Management lay at the feet of the Sierra Club, are they not also guilty of Involuntary Manslaughter?
