Metrolink to Extend Ventura County Line Service for 2023 X Games July 21-23

    News Release

LOS ANGELES – Beginning the evening of Friday, July 21 through Sunday, July 23, Metrolink is extending service on its Ventura County (VC) Line to serve the Ventura-Downtown/Beach Station providing fans attending the 2023 X Games at the Ventura County Fairgrounds an additional convenient and hassle-free transportation alternative to and from this action-packed sporting event.

“I am excited that fans from across Southern California can ride Metrolink’s Ventura County Line to and from the 2023 X Games at the Ventura County Fairgrounds,” Metrolink CEO Darren Kettle said. “Thanks to our affordable Metrolink ticket options and the recent addition of trains, along with expanded Sunday service on the Ventura County Line corridor, our riders can reap the benefits and attend this exciting event or just go explore Ventura Beach.”

Metrolink offers a $10 Weekend Day Pass on Saturdays and Sundays that allows for unlimited rides system-wide on the date of purchase. The Weekend Day Pass is a true bargain, especially with Metrolink’s Kids Ride Free on Weekends deal, as each fare-paying adult can bring up to three kids 17 years of age and younger along for free.

The Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) was a driving force behind extending Ventura County Line service to and from the Ventura-Downtown/Beach Station.

“Visitors can take the train or bus, or a combination of both, to travel to the X Games and see how public transit can become a part of their everyday travel plans,” VCTC Executive Director Martin Erickson said. “The X Games and similar community events are a good opportunity for people to explore public transit options in Ventura County.”

The X Games are a series of Skateboard, BMX, and Moto X competitions in a large event format, complete with a fan festival and music performances. The Ventura County Fairgrounds will serve as the last stop as the world’s best action sports superstars compete from Friday, July 21 through Sunday, July 23, 2023. The weekend will feature competitions, an interactive festival, and live music over the course of three days.

“Sustainable travel has been at the forefront of our conversations since the very beginning,” President and CEO of Visit Ventura Marlyss Auster said. “We’ve known that making a plan for accessible, affordable, and eco-friendly transportation is paramount for our community — and our partners stepped up to the plate to make it happen. We’re excited and grateful to see that Metrolink and the Ventura County Transportation Commission will expand the Ventura County Line service for fans and locals. The truth is train and bus travel is not only better for our local community, but it’s also better for the environment and the guest experience too. It’s a win-win.”

This should make all those that can’t afford an electric car feel great that public transportation will be their only alternative when fossil fuel transportation is outlawed in kalifornia
