Moorpark Film Festival Seeks Entries

Community invited to submit original films for a chance to win cash and prizes

Moorpark Morning Rotary Club is now accepting entries for its inaugural film festival, which will be held at the historic High Street Arts Center Aug. 23-25, 2019. All entries must be submitted by June 21 for consideration.

Winners will be selected in five categories: narrative feature film, narrative short film, documentary short film, music video and student short film. For each category, a winner will be selected by a jury panel consisting of motion picture industry professionals. In addition to these Jury Awards, one Audience Choice Award will be granted for each category.

The winner of the narrative feature film Jury Award will receive a $20,000 credit toward equipment rentals at Shadowcast Pictures LLC. The Jury Award winners in the short film categories and music video category will each receive a $3,000 credit toward equipment rentals at Shadowcast Pictures. Audience Choice Award winners will each receive $200 cash. In addition to these prizes, each winner will receive a trophy.

“Moorpark has a rich heritage in the motion picture industry and has served as a filming location for a variety of movies,” said Jay Ellison, festival director. “Our goals with this festival are to continue promoting cinematic and performing arts in our community, create opportunities for local filmmakers to showcase their work and to raise funds for philanthropic causes.”

This year, the majority of the funds raised through the film festival will support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Moorpark Morning Rotary will select a variety of other charities to distribute the remaining proceeds.
