News Release
Chief Jason Benites – Oxnard Police Department
We just wanted to provide you with a brief update re Casa Sirena:

After 12 years of being shuttered, the Casa Sirena / Lobster Trap is now vacated and fenced off. The Police Department’s Homeless Liaison Officers and Neighborhood Policing Team participated in an abatement operation earlier today (December 20). Officers made four (4) arrests at the site, all for outstanding warrants.
The fencing operation is expected to be completed tomorrow. Here are a few bits of information, in case you hear about them or are asked by constituents:
- If any of the former inhabitants inquire about any property of potential value, please direct them to the Harbor Patrol at (805) 973-5959.
- Anyone who is on property grounds (basically anyone who gets through the fence) can be arrested for trespassing (CA Penal Code section 602(o), a misdemeanor). There’s plenty of signage to provide a fair warning, and agent authorization is in place.
- Security will be patrolling the perimeter of the prty in the evening hours. OXPD patrol officers have been asked to frequent patrol as much as possible in the next few days, and enforce as needed.
If anyone has further questions, Senior Police Officers Mike Wood ([email protected]) and Mike Kohr ([email protected]) are coordinating the PD’s efforts there.
Stay safe, and have a happy holiday.
