    SUBJECT: Fatal hit and run traffic collision involving a vehicle and bicyclist

    LOCATION: Hemlock Street east of N Street, Oxnard

    SUSPECT: Unknown

    VEHICLE: Red compact sedan

    BICYCLIST: 16-year-old male of Port Hueneme, CA

    On September 29, 2021, at approximately 8:34 p.m., Oxnard officers and EMS personnel responded to a hit and run traffic collision involving a vehicle and bicyclist that occurred on Hemlock Street east of N Street.  When police personnel arrived at the scene of the collision, they discovered a 16-year-old male bicyclist of Port Hueneme had been struck by a vehicle and sustained critical injuries. The bicyclist was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries.

    Limited information was received regarding the driver and vehicle involved in the collision, however, it was determined the driver fled in the vehicle westbound on Hemlock Street towards Ventura Road.  Based on video surveillance, the vehicle was identified as a red compact sedan.  Traffic investigators have taken over the investigation and encourage anyone with information regarding this collision to contact Senior Officer Jose Diaz at (805)385-7749 or via email at [email protected]  Also, anyone with information regarding this case can contact the Oxnard Police Department at (805) 385-7600, or online via the Oxnard Police Department’s website:, and clicking on Report Suspicious Activity.
