Oxnard Man Sentenced to Prison for Distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material

Christian Ornelas (DOB 12/27/85), of Oxnard, was sentenced to two years in state prison for distributing and possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). On August 4, 2020, Ornelas pled guilty to one count of felony distribution of obscene child pornography and one count of felony possession of more than 600 images of child pornography.

On March 19, 2019, the Oxnard Police Department executed a search warrant at Ornelas’s home. Following up on a tip from Twitter, they seized a computer and cell phone that contained more than 20,000 child sexual abuse material images. Forensic examination of Ornelas’s computer and phone showed he used Twitter, Telegram, ICQ, and Snapchat apps to distribute child sexual abuse material on multiple occasions.

This case was investigated by the Oxnard Police Department and the Southern California High Tech Task Force, and prosecuted by the District Attorney’s Office Fraud and Technology Crimes Unit.
