Peterson on CA recall: Somebody needs to lead…but who?

    Chad Groening (OneNewsNow.com)

Millions of fed-up Californians have worked hard to boot their governor from office but a conservative activist is asking a no-nonsense question: Who will replace him to improve the state?

Earlier this month, the California secretary of state’s office confirmed there are enough verified signatures to trigger an election in the fall to possibly remove Gov. Gavin Newsom. That would be only the second such election in state history.

Voters will face two questions on the ballot: Should Gov. Newsom be recalled and who should replace him?

Jesse Lee Peterson, who leads the L.A.-based BOND, tells One News Now he is pleased with the recall effort but says, right now, he can’t name anyone in the state of 40 million who is running and is qualified to lead the state government.

“I’m sure they’re there somewhere,” he says, “but I don’t know of anyone. That might change a little later down the road but, as of this point, I know of no one in California who can do that.”

One name that is enjoying media buzz is Bruce Jenner, the U.S. Olympic standout who announced in 2015 he is transgender and is now called “Caitlyn.”

Jenner jumped in the race early with a Fox News appearance on “Hannity” and also unveiled a professionally-produced political ad that reminds Californians what sparked the recall effort.

“California was once the envy of the world,” Jenner states in the ad. “We had what everyone else wanted.”

Asked about Jenner jumping in the gubernatorial race, Peterson says California’s issues with crime and drugs, illegal immigration and homelessness cannot be solved by a person who thinks he is a female.

“Bruce Jenner doesn’t know that he’s a male. This male wears a dress. He thinks that he’s a woman,” Peterson says. “So we’re going to go from worse to worse?”

In the coming months, he adds, hopefully someone will step up who is able to “bring California back.”
