    Santa Paula | Firearm recovered during DUI Investigation

    On Saturday, December 5, 2020 at approximately 7:06pm officers observed a vehicle in the 100 block of E. Harvard Blvd. failing to maintain lanes.  The officer conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle because the officer believed the driver could be driving while impaired. 

    The officer contacted the driver, Jorge Zamora age 19 of Santa Paula, and passenger Robert Bennett age 28 of Santa Paula.  During the investigation a search of the vehicle was conducted which revealed a loaded 9mm handgun and holster.  Upon inspecting the firearm it was discovered it had no serial numbers.  The driver admitted to smoking marijuana prior to driving the vehicle however after field sobriety tests were conducted was found not to be impaired.  Both subjects were arrested for 25400(a) PC – possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle and 29180(c) PC – possession of a firearm without serial numbers. 

    Both subjects were transported to Santa Paula Police Department for processing and later booked at Ventura County Main Jail.
