Porter Ranch, CA — Â On Thursday, March 30, Senator Henry Stern (D-Los Angeles) will formally share with the Los Angeles community details of SB 1486, his legislation to shut the SoCalGas Aliso Canyon storage facility down by 2027. Six years after the gas blowout that made Aliso Canyon synonymous with disaster, San Fernando Valley residents are still suffering the health impacts of the toxins produced by the storage facility. And despite support from state and local lawmakers, until now there has been no plan to shut the facility down.
Supporters and activists will gather outside the SoCalGas office building in Chatsworth to raise a rallying cry for a just, equitable transition away from fossil fuels.
Visuals will include the SoCalGas facility and hand-painted painted signs wielded by members of the Porter Ranch community.
