On 07/27/23, the Oxnard Police Department concluded a shoplifting sting operation at The Marketplace at Oxnard Shopping Center located in the 1800 block of Ventura Boulevard. Officers worked in conjunction with organized retail crime investigators during peak hours, to contact and arrest individuals who were actively committing thefts from the business.
All three of the suspects, Savannah Avalos, a 22-year-old Oxnard resident, Dayyana Magana, a 47-year-old Oxnard resident and Benjamin Acosta, a 36-year-old Oxnard resident were arrested for felony theft violations.
Earlier this month, the Oxnard Police Department was made aware that the businesses were experiencing a large number of unreported thefts with one business totaling last year’s losses at over $700,000. During this operation, the total dollar amount of recovered property was over $3000 in merchandise.
