Simi Valley | Assault with a Vehicle Leaves One Injured

Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release

On 8/14/19 at approximately 8:43 PM, Simi Valley Police units responded to 2242 Tapo St. for a “vehicle vs. pedestrian” traffic collision. Upon arrival, witnesses to the incident stated the following in summary: Victim Nancy Arrellano ( 8/18/92) was walking s/b with a male subject next to the Walmart in the 2200 Blk. of Tapo St.

As they were walking, a female driving an unknown type vehicle slowed down next to them and began yelling obscenities towards them. They both ignored the driver and continued to walk. The driver eventually passed them and parked adjacent to Joann’s, 2242 Tapo St. As Arrellano got to the area where the vehicle was parked, the driver accelerated toward her and collided into her, throwing Arrellano several feet. The driver then fled s/b in the vehicle toward Alpine St. The suspect is still outstanding.

Because Arrellano was hit by the vehicle on purpose, this changed the classification of the incident from a traffic collision to an assault with a deadly weapon. Arrellano sustained abrasions to her back and a laceration to her head. She was transported to Simi Valley Hospital and was subsequently released.

Both the victim and the male subject stated they did not know who the suspect was. They described her as a white female adult driving a silver sedan. Anyone who has information regarding this incident is asked to call the Simi Valley Police Dept. at 805-583-6950.
