News Release
Ventura, Calif. – Dignity Health – St. John’s Hospital Camarillo (SJHC) became the first hospital in Southern California – and the second in the entire state – to utilize an advanced technological system known as POLARx to treat atrial fibrillation (AFib), the most common form of arrhythmia. POLARx is a cryoablation system that provides the ability to treat various forms of AFib in the quickest and most efficient manner possible.
“AFib impacts quality of life and increases the risk of stroke and developing other more serious cardiac conditions,” says Dr. Ali Sovari, Medical Director of Electrophysiology at St. John’s Regional Medical Center and St. John’s Hospital Camarillo. “We are incredibly proud to be one of the most experienced centers performing cryoballoon ablations and now using the POLARx system, which provides new features increasing success and safety.”
AFib affects tens of millions of people each year, and it is linked to an almost 400% higher risk of developing a stroke. The POLARx technology, developed by Boston Scientific, has been shown to significantly improve patient outcomes, while being more adaptable to anatomical differences between patients.
“At St. John’s, we pride ourselves on our steadfast commitment to clinical excellence and technological advancement with the goal of improving patient outcomes,” shares Barry Wolfman, President & CEO of St. John’s Hospitals. “Being the first hospital in Southern California to be using this new system enables our electrophysiology team to be leaders in an innovative technology that successfully treats such a prevalent cardiac condition.”
On November 2, 2023, Dr. Sovari and a dedicated team of physicians, nurses and technicians successfully performed the first cryoablation case using POLARx on a patient at SJHC.

Screw this afib shit you commie dicks at CJ.
Pray to the Lord for help, not elite lib scientists. I’m truly surprised I need to explain this to what’s supposed to be a good Christian publication.
Who is going to volunteer to be the first in line? Step up!
They don’t say exactly how this new tech works, what’s the general procedure, what makes it better and safer, and what’s different about this procedure than what’s in place now?
Great questions. For any and every science or tech article you read in any publication, bear in mind, it’s very likely the author flunked all their science classes.
