Tim McCarthy, Candidate for Ventura County Supervisor, District #2, Denies False Criminal Accusations From Democrat Opponent

Today, Candidate for District #2, Tim McCarthy of Thousand Oaks, running for Ventura County Board of Supervisors, responded to rumors that Democrat opponent Claudia Bill-dela Pena has publicly stated Tim McCarthy had been arrested or has a criminal record.

McCarthy stated for the record, “I own a security company called Oaks Security. If I had a criminal record or ever had been arrested, I would not have the security clearance to run the company.” But it does beg the question, “did Bill-de la Pena say it, or did two of the GOP members influence the endorsement vote for Jeff Gorell?

These advocates who publicly endorse Jeff Gorell stated it immediately before the GOP endorsement vote held on February 23, 2022 was about to be taken and after McCarthy left the meeting hall.

“The timing of the comments appeared very conspicuous. Either way, that’s dirty politics and why voters are fed up with lies.”

Bill-de la Pena’s purported lies were overheard at her booth during the Thousand Oaks Rotary Street Fair in October of 2021, telling visitors that “McCarthy had been arrested in the past.”

McCarthy further added, “fake news just isn’t in the media; it’s around us every day. Elected officials need to be honest and have absolute transparency and is just one of many reasons why I chose to run for the Supervisor position”.
