Last week, a large group appeared before the Ventura County Board of Supervisors asking that we oppose the implementation of “vaccine passports.” Unfortunately, these individuals relied on rumors and reports we were going to vote to require “passports” to gain entry to some government facilities and/or activities. Although there was no attempt by our Board to implement such a thing, I want to state clearly, and for the record – I do not support the idea of “vaccine passports” and would vote NO if it were to ever come before our Board.
I have remained firm in my position that receiving a COVID-19 vaccination should be a personal choice and not a mandate. Any potential government-initiated effort to limit public access to places or activities would essentially make vaccinations mandatory. This is unacceptable.
Thank you to everyone who contacted me with questions and concerns about this issue. I want to reassure all of you that I will continue to do my best to protect public health, while also pushing back on the heavy hand of government when civil liberties may be threatened.

Supervisor, 3rd District
