Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release
On December 29th at 9:15 PM multiple officers responded to two incidents that were reported as a shooting victim in the 8500 Block of Truckee and a vehicle versus pedestrian collision nearby at Montgomery Ave and North Bank Dr.
Arriving officers quickly determined both reported events were actually the same incident. There was no shooting victim as reported, but there was a pedestrian in the road suffering from severe injuries.
The pedestrian was transported by AMR to the Ventura County Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the vehicle involved remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation. The driver was evaluated for drug and/or alcohol use, and these were determined not to be factors for the driver.
The Ventura Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded and investigated the scene, resulting in a temporary road closure in the area.
The injured party’s status is unknown at this time and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
