    Ventura County Academic Competitions Seek Volunteers

    Help Support Academic Decathlon, Mock Trial, and Science Fair

    Ventura County’s popular academic competitions are seeking volunteers to help present these events for local students. The Ventura County Academic Decathlon, Mock Trial, and Science Fair will be taking place next January, February and March. On average, more than 400 volunteer judges and scorers are needed to support the 2,500 students who participate. Please see below for additional information and links to online registration forms where you can sign up to volunteer.

    Academic Decathlon – Speech & Interview Judges
    Location: Oxnard High School
    Dates: Saturday, January 27, 2024
    Time: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

    Arrive on campus at 7:00 AM. Rounds begin at 8:00 AM.

    Requirements: No special requirements

    Mock Trial – Scoring Attorneys
    Location: Ventura County Superior Court in Ventura
    Dates: Saturday, February 3, and Sunday, February 4, 2024

    Saturday, February 24, and Sunday, February 25, 2024

    Time: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

    Arrive at courthouse at 8:00 AM. Rounds begin 9:00 AM.

    Requirements: Must be an attorney or law student

    Science Fair – Judges
    Location: Ventura County Office of Education in Camarillo
    Date: Friday, March 22, 2024
    Time: 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM

    Arrive at location at 8:00 AM. Judging begins at 9:00 AM.

    Requirements: A professional or academic background in science preferred. This may be supplemented by experience working with youth.
