Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
On March 23, 2021, detectives assigned to the Sheriff’s Gang Unit contacted and arrested local gang member Cristian Albarran for being a felon in possession of a registered firearm.
On March 23, 2021, detectives with the Sheriff’s Gang Unit were conducting directed enforcement in the City of Ventura. Detectives contacted Albarran who was seated in a parked vehicle at Marina Park in Ventura. Albarran was consuming alcohol and is on active Ventura County probation with search terms for alcohol. During a search of his person, detectives found ammunition and a loaded firearm magazine in his pocket. Detectives also found an unregistered firearm inside the vehicle next to Albarran. Albarran’s past criminal history prohibits him from owning and or possessing any firearms or ammunition. The firearm was unregistered and is commonly referred to as a “Ghost Gun” due to the lack of commercial serial number, which make the firearm untraceable and allows the possessor to circumvent regulated background checks by the Department of Justice.
Based on the investigation, Albarran was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Albarran was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and is awaiting court proceedings.
