VENTURA, CALIF. — The Workforce Development Board of Ventura County (WDB) elected Peter Zierhut as chair and Stephen Yeoh as vice-chair.
Zierhut is Vice President, Outside Operations at Haas Automation, Inc. with company headquarters in Oxnard. This is his second time as WDB chair for Zierhut, having served in that capacity about 14 years ago. “We are at a critical time in Ventura County,” says Zierhut. “Among my goals as chair is finding ways to match the available workforce in our county to the needs of businesses. This is especially important as life goes back to post-COVID normal. Businesses, including Haas Automation, are struggling to find people to meet their employment needs.”
Another of Zierhut’s goals is designating the WDB as a 501c3, which would potentially allow the organization to raise additional funds from public and private sources. “This could bolster the work done by the WDB in a variety of areas including developing student pipelines, outreach to underserved communities and development of training to better meet employer needs,” says Zierhut.
Yeoh is Chief of Peace of Mind at Un1teee, an IT service company in Thousand Oaks. “In these uncertain times,” says Yeoh, “business representation on the WDB means that we strive to be relevant to current and evolving business needs by providing timely and necessary services to help businesses in Ventura County survive and thrive.”
Both Zierhut and Yeoh will serve one-year terms.
Members of the WDB include leaders from business, economic development, education, labor, government and community-based organizations.
