Suspect arrested after beating and carjacking his ex-girlfriend.
On 09/09/19, deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a local hospital regarding a female victim who had been battered by her ex-boyfriend while she was attempting to visit a friend in the city of Thousand Oaks. The victim received notable injuries from the assault. The suspect, identified as Anthony Garcia, also took the victim’s vehicle by force.
On 09/16/19, East County Major Crimes detectives located and recovered the victim’s stolen vehicle in the Los Angeles area; however, it was unoccupied and Garcia’s whereabouts were unknown. Detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Garcia and with the assistance of the Thousand Oaks Police Department’s Directed Enforcement Unit, Garcia was connected to a residence in the city of Camarillo.
On 09/26/19, members of the Directed Enforcement unit, East County Major Crimes unit, and patrol K-9 units executed a search warrant at the Camarillo residence for Garcia’s person. Garcia was located inside the residence and taken into custody without incident.
Garcia was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on the warrant charges of 215(a) PC – Carjacking, 245(a)(4) PC – Assault with Force Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury, and 273.5(a) PC – Domestic Violence. Garcia also had other outstanding warrants and his total bail amount was set at $65,000. Garcia was also booked on an outstanding No Bail Post-Release
Community Supervision Warrant issued out of Los Angeles County. His court date was set for 09/27/19 at 9:00 am
