Santa Paula Police Department – Incident Press Release
On Sunday, July 14, 2019, at approximately 9:30 PM, officers from the Santa Paula Police Department were called to the 1100 block of E. Ventura Street regarding a subject who had been shot.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive female who had suffered at least one gunshot wound to the head. EMS arrived on scene and the female victim was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center.
The victim’s boyfriend, Jahsua Jarrett (21) of Santa Paula, remained on scene and was detained by officers for questioning. Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to identify, gather evidence and canvas the area for potential witnesses.
Ultimately, the female victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The identity of the victim will be released once next of kin has been notified.
After further investigation, Jahshua Jarrett was placed under arrest for murder – 187 Penal Code. At this time, the motive for the shooting is unknown.
