Rachel Sedacca, a well-loved local folk musician and promoter, has urgent need of some press (a calendar pick would rule!). Her son, George Replogle, a Ventura High student who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, is recovering from a school bus accident that nearly killed him. After being helicoptered from downtown Ventura to UCLA, spending 3 days on ECMO (the most advanced form of life support in existence) and undergoing several surgeries, he will be returning to his Ventura home where he will spend at least a year in recovery. Having broken both femurs, which unleashed something known as fat embolism syndrome, George suffered damage to his brain and has not spoken since the accident, though he is smiling and comprehending language. He will require daily nursing care and all the equipment necessary to carry him through his recovery. Doctors are optimistic but the family has an arduous journey ahead of them.
A fundraiser for the Replogle family is being held on Sunday, Nov. 11, 12 -8 p.m. at Ojai Valley Community Church. Live music will be provided by Josh Bergmann, Brion Shearer, Brothers & Sisters, Topa Time Travelers, 50 Sticks of Dynamite, Fish Fry and Rachel Sedacca’s Scarlet Fire & Friends. Additionally there will be carnival games, food, silent auction, raffle, henna body art and a “get well card creation station” to encourage brave and amazing young George.
Anything you can do is much appreciated.
