Godspeak Calvary Pastor Rob McCoy: Is Christ prominent or preeminent for you? Some 93 make Christ preeminent as they get baptized Sunday

    By Michael Hernandez

NEWBURY PARK—Godspeak Calvary Pastor Rob McCoy defined prominent and preeminent and then asked the question: “Is Christ prominent or preeminent for you?” Some 93 responded by saying Christ was preeminent as they got baptized during the three in-person services held at the church Sunday. “Prominent means very well-known and important; while preeminent means more important or powerful than all others.”

Pastor McCoy commenting on his effort in “trying to awaken up America to its religious freedoms,” said “the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution are sacred documents; but America is an idea that as long as we love liberty and are willing to stand and declare that God is preeminent there will always be hope on earth.

“This is a season where the Church in America is having to decide whether they see Christ as prominent or preeminent? Are you going to compromise everything you can; to yield to tyranny? to somehow make Christ relevant to a culture that is falling into slavery and depression. Are you going to make Jesus prominent? Are you trying to make Him more palatable to the nation, itself?

“You’re trying to make Him relevant; but He doesn’t need your help. The church does not need to make Christ prominent. They need to recognize that He is preeminent. No tyranny will ever understand the way of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, ever.

“Spines of steel believers recognize the critical component that when Christ is preeminent your fear dissipates; there is nothing mankind can do to you. Nothing. You are no longer afraid. There is nothing that can be taken from you. Christ is preeminent. He is everything.”

Pastor McCoy said that Godspeak Calvary has experienced “300-400 percent growth in the past five to six months.”  During a baptism Sunday of the previous quarter, nearly 90 were baptized.

The text used prior to the baptism service was taken from Mark 1:9-11: “It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And immediately, coming up from the water, He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove. Then a voice came from heaven, ‘You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’”

According to Pastor McCoy, “Baptism is a declaration to the world that Jesus Christ is preeminent to your life!”
