On December 4, 2019, Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Street Team concluded a narcotics sales investigation and arrested Lawrence Crist of Port Hueneme for his involvement in the sales of narcotics to residents of Ventura County.

In late November 2019, detectives obtained information indicating Crist was selling methamphetamine to residents of Ventura County. Detectives began an investigation and determined Crist was a Post-Release Offender Supervision (PROS) violator who had a felony warrant for his arrest. Crist was previously released from prison to county probation supervision under realignment legislation passed by California voters in 2011.

During the investigation, detectives developed enough information indicating Crist was selling methamphetamine and hiding at a residence located in the 100 Block of Ann Avenue in Port Hueneme. Detectives gathered enough evidence and obtained a signed search warrant for Crist, his residence and a vehicle associated to him.

On December 4, 2019, detectives, with the assistance of a Sheriff’s K9 handler and his K9 partner “Yevhen” from the Headquarters Patrol Station assisted in the peaceful apprehension of Crist as he left his residence on Ann Avenue. Following Crist’s arrest, detectives executed the search warrant at his residence and vehicle associated to Crist. K9 Yevhen was used for the search which resulted in the seizure of 160 grams of methamphetamine, 2.3 grams of heroin, illegally possessed prescription pills and evidence consistent with narcotics sales. Detectives also located two sets of brass knuckles and a firearm magazine containing live ammunition.

Based on the investigation, detectives arrested Crist for violation of Health and Safety Code sections 11351 and 11378-Possession for sale of controlled substances. Crist was also arrested for violation of Penal Code section 21810-Possession of brass knuckles and PC 30305-Possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. Crist was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and is awaiting court proceedings.

The Narcotics Street Team is comprised of Narcotic Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Oxnard Police Department.
